Danny Garcia is one of the names in consideration to face Manny Pacquiao although the Filipino boxing icon is unlikely to make that a priority right now. Aside from being a boxer, Pacquiao is also a politician over in the Philippines. He is busy trying to help his country as the COVID-19 pandemic continues to rage and affect locals.

Also, there is no telling when boxing can be cleared to resume. Like most sports, boxing has been suspended for the safety of boxers and all people concerned. Hence, all fighters can do right now is speculate and air their wishes. And for Garcia, a clash with Pacquiao would benefit both in terms of revenue and pay-per-view buys.

Speaking to the PBC podcast, the 32-year-old pug explained why he was a worthy opponent over the rest. He alleges he is the perfect guy to face although some will likely disagree. Garcia could have made the grade had he come out with an impressive win over his last opponent, Ivan Redkach. He did by unanimous decision but it appears that may not be enough for him to secure a date with the eight-time division champion.

“I think that’ll be, you know, the biggest fight that Manny, you know, if he wants the big money and he wants the pay-per-view buys, I feel like I’m the perfect guy to fight, who’s gonna meet that, you know,” Garcia said.

Garcia needed a big win, preferably via knockout. Before Redkach, he faced Keith Thurman - another boxer that Pacquiao defeated last time out via split decision. Garcia lost to Thurman in 2017 via split decision and that has likely factored in.

The chances of Garcia being named as Pacquiao's next opponents are not that high right now. But the good news is that Team Pacquiao has yet to single out a boxer to face the Pac-Man. Floyd Mayweather Jr. is on the radar but most know that Money has often conned most into believing he would return to the boxing ring. Right now, a Pacquiao vs. Mayweather rematch is remote.

Garcia may only find that out once the COVID-19 pandemic dies down. Curiously, Garcia may have to worry about Pacquiao's plans. The fact that the Filipino is 41 means that time is not on his side. He has little to prove and there was the word that he was considering only one to two fights more. With time passing by, that forecast could change and there is a possibility that Pacquiao may opt to inadvertently retire. That is an opponent even Garcia cannot outplace.
