Tyronn Lue is at present part of the Los Angeles Clippers coaching staff but it could prove a short gig for the NBA champion coach. Reports said Lue might get a shot at working with Kyrie Irving again, which means the tactician could soon work with the Brooklyn Nets.

It's not remote that Irving would want a familiar name to fill the vacancy created by the sudden departure of Nets head coach Kenny Atkinson in March. The post remains open as Jacque Vaughn was bumped up in an interim capacity, and according to reports both Lue and Irving are looking forward to a possible reunion next season.

Citing the report from Stefan Bondy of the New York Daily News, Clutch Points said the partnership that saw Lue and Irving getting to two NBA Finals and winning one could be relived again, this time in Brooklyn.

"Tyronn Lue wants another chance to coach Kyrie Irving," Bondy was reported as saying.

It appeared that Lue's interest in the Nets coaching job was spurred by the talks that Irving wants him to assume the same role that Lue played a few years back.

"The former Cavaliers coach is, in fact, interested in the Nets gig, according to a source, following a Yahoo report that Irving prefers Lue on Brooklyn's sideline," Bondy added.

If the Nets management will consider the idea, Bleacher Report said convincing Lue to take up on the coaching job will not be easy. Or more correctly, Lue will not say yes for a bargain price so Brooklyn must make an offer that NBA the titleholder will find hard to refuse.

The report took note of the proposal that was presented to Lue, which was to take charge of the Los Angeles Lakers. The deal fell through and supposedly Lue was far from satisfied with the offer of $18 million for three years of coaching the Purple & Gold.

So one can imagine that the Nets must put together a package that at least will exceed terms laid out by the Lakers before.

For his part, Lue has to consider that it was partly because of Irving that Atkinson had to leave Brooklyn. It was unthinkable that Atkinson will be forced out because of Irving considering that the coach was responsible for shaping the Nets' current form, which is regarded as at a title contention level.

But Atkinson is out now because Irving soured on the coach as reports said. Lue, however, can count on the fact that he worked great with the Nets superstar before and they even won an NBA crown.

It might be that Irving is a coach killer, as reports suggested, but it would seem Lue will not be a casualty because he knows how to handle the star.
