It had been a long time since Queen Elizabeth II saw her youngest great-grandson, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, but she finally had a glimpse of the kid in a video call for her 94th birthday. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle revealed they had a video chat with the Queen for her birthday, a move that, according to the royal protocol, should never be revealed.

The Sussexes seemed to be, once again, broke a royal protocol when they announced they called Her Majesty to greet her on her birthday. According to Daily Mail, one of the four British publications that they ceased to work with, they disregarded the Buckingham Palace's wish to keep any details of any calls between Her Royal Highness and her family to be private.

A palace spokesman announced last week that, for the first time, Queen Elizabeth wanted to have a modulated birthday celebration during the COVID-19 pandemic. She ordered the cancellation of the traditional gun salutes and flag flying due to the coronavirus outbreak. "Her Majesty's birthday will not be marked in a special way - and calls, video calls, with family will be private and kept so," the spokesman said.

So, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's announcement about their son meeting his great-grandmother online was also questioned. The publication knew that the couple wished to let Archie grow up out of the spotlight, but the timing of their update seemed to be somewhat questionable for some.

This news comes after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced they halted their cooperation with British tabloids The Sun, the Daily Mail, the Daily Mirror, and the Daily Express. In the letter they sent to each publication's editor, as obtained by Insider, they said that they would no longer engage or respond to these newspapers' journalists, online editors, or Sunday editions.

They also said they wished to stop to offer themselves up as "currency for an economy of clickbait and distortion." The new media regulations is said to have something to do with their new roles as non-working royals after they stepped down from their royal duties.

As Prince Harry and Meghan Markle would no longer receive public funding, with their aim to be financially independent, they were not bound to work with the publications included on the royal rota anymore. Although they knew that any publications had the right to report things about them, they said their stories shouldn't be "based on a lie."
