Paris Saint-Germain star Kylian Mbappe is linked with a summer transfer to Real Madrid, but the deal tipped to have been finalized, could be derailed by the efforts being made by Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp. Reports said the German made contacts with the Mbappe camp.

Klopp has reached out to the Frenchman's agent, who happened to be his father. While no deal was discussed during the reported conversation, it was said the Liverpool manager made the call to get the feel of Mbappe's interest in joining up with the Reds.

Metro said the gesture by Klopp can be characterized as "a charm offensive" that should establish the foundation of Mbappe's possible jump to Anfield.

The interest on the World Cup winner is unsurprising as he is the subject of close monitoring by super clubs in Europe, with Real Madrid thought to be the frontrunner in the campaign to lure him out of Paris. So far in the season, Mbappe already scored 30 goals and is considered to be a player for PSG to win the Champions League title again.

He is only 21, so pundits are convinced he could take on the same path set by Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. If Mbappe continues to explode, he could win the Ballon d'Or multiple times and collect team titles, provided he is playing for the right football club.

It would seem that Klopp is convinced Liverpool is the best place for the prolific scorer. The Reds boast of a Champions League in 2019 and will likely pocket the Premier League crown when the football season resumes. In other words, the club has the winning elements that would attract Mbappe as a football superstar in the making.

Most importantly, Liverpool can pay the price that PSG will likely demand for the release of Mbappe. The last two transfer windows saw the Reds not spending big on signings, so the club likely has the cash to fund the French striker's acquisition.

But while the elements appear to favor Liverpool, Mbappe going the way of Madrid cannot be discounted. The coach for Los Blancos is Zinedine Zidane, and he is a compatriot of Mbappe, which could be a huge factor in the player's decision to transfer.

Then the Frenchman might be subscribed to the belief that playing for the big La Liga clubs, Real and Barcelona, would increase his chance of soon taking home a Ballon trophy.

Also, a recent report from France had indicated that Mbappe's transfer talks with Real were nearing completion, possibly postponed only by the season suspension due to the coronavirus pandemic.

"I know from club sources that a deal to take Kylian Mbappe to Real Madrid was almost done," former PSG star Jerome Rothen was reported by Talk Sport as saying.

Rothen claimed that Mbappe would not cut an extension deal with PSG, meaning his exit from the club will happen, but the move to Spain could see a delay, no thanks to the ongoing global health crisis.
