The Rookie season 2 finale arrives this week and the following week on ABC. The series will have a two-part finale, so expect some big stories here. Officer John Nolan and the rest find some closure to their rookie year on the job, but it looks like someone's life is in danger within these episodes.
The Rookie season 2 finale sees Nolan and others proving themselves while helping others in the process. They have been evaluated and proved that they're worthy and deserve to have a badge. Now, they'll continue proving themselves by potentially saving someone else's life.
The two-part finale also marks the beginning of an important milestone of some of the characters, as they'll realize they're not rookies anymore. They will have a chance to take a step forward, which will define who they are as cops.
In the first part of the finale, titled "The Q Word," their rookie year is coming to an end. Officers Nolan, West, and Chen will be squeezed harder than ever as their training officers will evaluate whether or not they're truly ready for the job.
The episode also sees one of their rookie classmates involved in a shooting. And after this incident, the team will uncover some unsettling evidence. This story will possibly continue in the second part of the finale, setting more intense stories.
In fact, the second half, titled "The Hunt," follows Nolan's journey and what's next for him. His discovery is much deeper than he previously expected, which could put his career, as well as his life in jeopardy. This is an intriguing storyline, and it remains to be seen whether Nolan's life is in danger.
It would be hard to kill Nolan, given that he's the forefront of the series. Yet, this storyline could be used to question his status, and he may probably remain as a rookie moving forward. His discovery may also leave some huge cliffhangers, which could be explored in the potential third season.
Preview photos of the finale have been released as well, and some of which feature Nolan in action and it some intense scenes. For instance, one of the photos shows him and Nyla, while another one features him carrying a bat like he's ready to strike.
The first part of The Rookie season 2 finale airs on Sunday night, May 3 on ABC, while the second and final part arrives the following Sunday, May 10.
