Prince Philip has been observing the country's social distancing guidelines alongside his wife, Queen Elizabeth II, in Windsor Castle. In mid-March, the royal couple moved into the property to isolate themselves from the public.

It was noted that the Queen and Prince Consort are part of the most vulnerable groups of individuals to the novel coronavirus. With their ages, 94 and 99, respectively, it was only appropriate for them to stay indoors.

Since the emergence of the pandemic crisis, several members of the British Royal Family have already released statements and addresses through several platforms. Queen Elizabeth II even gave her fifth rare address earlier this month to tackle the current "invisible enemy" in the country.

According to BBC News, Prince Philip also recently released a statement about the crisis in the United Kingdom. Through the official website of the Royal Family, his statements, especially for the "key workers" were published on April 20.

As posted, the Duke of Edinburgh "praised" and thanked everyone who has been working tirelessly at the frontlines. He stated that he wanted to "recognize" the "vital" work to "tackle the pandemic."

Aside from the health workers and staff, he centered his praises on the individuals who "ensure" that the "infrastructure of life" of everyone in the United Kingdom continues. These individuals mainly included those who are working on "food production," continuing the "postal and delivery" services, and most especially, the people who are ensuring that the "rubbish" will be collected, despite the current condition of the country.

In a similar report released by Express UK, several royal experts and commentators applauded Prince Philip for taking the time to release a brief statement and message amid the COVID-19 crisis. It was noted that "he did not have to" considering that he has already retired from his royal duties and responsibilities.

As pointed out, this has become a "rare" moment in the British royal history since, for three years now, Prince Philip has kept quiet for almost all issues and controversies that surrounded the British Monarchy, as well as its key members. But, aside from this "rare moment," the royal commentators also praised the way he thanked the "key workers."

Royal expert, Angela Mollard, reportedly, shared how "lovely" it was that the Duke of Edinburgh thanked everyone, especially the "bin men." It was not, reportedly, a very common dynamic as most addresses and messages these days always centered on thanking the health workers and staff. Accordingly, including, especially those who ensure that the lives of the people staying indoors will continue, in his message was a "lovely thing to do," the expert explained.
