Kate Middleton was apparently working on the day of her ninth wedding anniversary to Prince William. She was, reportedly, making secret video calls to a women's charity.
Reports revealed that on April 29, her wedding anniversary date, Kate was in a round-table discussion via video call with a charity for new mothers and pregnant women. The Duchess of Cambridge also made other calls to organizations that support new parents.
Kate and Prince William, however, marked their wedding anniversary with an Instagram post early in the day. They posted a throwback photo and thanked those who sent their well-wishes.
It isn't unusual for Kate to forego skipping work day on her wedding anniversary. In the previous years, the duchess also worked and attended royal events despite her special day with Prince William. Her husband also does the same.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, however, are together for much of their ninth wedding anniversary since they are currently staying in isolation at Anmer Hall with their children. Aside from working from home, they have also been homeschooling Prince George and Princess Charlotte.
In an interview with BBC, Kate describe their challenges of being in isolation with the kids due to the coronavirus pandemic.
"You get to the end of the day and you write a list of all the things you've done in that day," the Duchess of Cambridge said, adding that they could cram a lot of activities in a day. "You've pitched a tent, take the tent down again, cook, bake, you get to the end of the day."
Kate also said that their schedules are hectic even if they are all at home since they have a two-year old (Prince Louis). She said that video calls to family are always tough as her youngest son wants to keep pressing buttons on the keyboard but she likes doing video calls to keep in touch with family and work.
Royal experts said that Kate and Prince William keep working, despite their limitations of their royal engagements, because they likely feel responsible for giving comfort to the public amid this public health crisis. Royal expert Ingrid Seward said that the Cambridges are making their best efforts to lift up the spirits of the British people.
"They have the highest profile and want to use it to the benefit of the monarchy, which has to be seen as being a comfort to people at this time," Seward said.
