There is little doubt that Mingyu's stature is what makes him stand out in SEVENTEEN. At 187 cm (6'2"), the rapper is the tallest in the boy group and his height only adds to his charm. However, it looks like being so tall isn't always a good thing for Kim Mingyu. The idol recently discovered that it also meant that he would have to miss out on fun activities, like a volleyball game, with his fellow SEVENTEEN members.
In the latest episode of Inside SEVENTEEN, Mingyu joined fellow members Wonwoo, Seungkwan, and Vernon as they visited a park in Jakarta after their Ode To You concert in the city. The rapper had decided to bring along his camera so he could take pictures of the people and scenery around the park. At one point, the idols found a group of young people who were playing volleyball. Being a big fan of volleyball, Boo Seungkwan asked if he could join the game.
Interestingly, the boys agreed to let Seungkwan join in and he happily warmed up with the volleyball players before the actual game. The vocalist even called on Mingyu to join him but the rapper chose to simply watch and take pictures of the activity. It was clear that Kim Mingyu was interested in being a part of the game but he kept standing back and taking pictures. Once the game had started, Mingyu then revealed the real reason why he didn't participate.
While talking to the staff, Mingyu stated that he was too tall to be part of the game. He noted that the other players were a lot shorter than him and that the rapper would have a clear advantage over them. Although this could mean that he could help his team win due to his height, Kim Mingyu admitted that he didn't want to spoil their fun simply because he could easily defeat the other team.
Although he didn't get to join the volleyball game, it was evident that Mingyu was still having fun at the park. He even pointed out that there was a group that was playing futsal, a game that he used to play when he was in school. In addition to that, Kim Mingyu continued taking photos of the people around him. He later photographed the exhausted Seungkwan sitting on a fountain.
Overall, it is safe to say that the SEVENTEEN members had fun on their day at the park in Jakarta. Hopefully, Mingyu will be able to join the fun games in the future.
