Jorginho may be doing fine now at Chelsea FC but it was never always a bed of roses for the 28-year-old footballer. He had a rough first season and it was understandable why he was the subject of heavy criticism. However, he loomed only as a pawn with most criticizing former boss Maurizio Sarri.

Sarri made critical changes to the Blues starting lineup, inserting Jorginho and displacing some others. One example is N'Golo Kane who found himself adjusting with Sarri inserting Jorginho in the midfield. This drew the ire of fans and Jorginho admitted that it almost came to a point where he was considering moving out of Chelsea, FourFourTwo reported.

“Last year, fans were picking on me a lot because I’d arrived with another manager, and, in my opinion, I ended up hearing some things that were honestly unfair,” Jorginho said.

Sarri eventually left and joined Juventus. But Jorginho stayed on. For him, there was something to prove and he did so while using criticism to motivate him. And before anyone knew it, the Brazilian footballer blended in despite being under a new coach - Frank Lampard.

“I’ve gone through moments like this at every club I’ve played for – this low moment when doubt can come and make you wonder, 'Should I just leave this place? Maybe there isn’t room for me here'," Jorginho said.

From a practical outcast, Jorginho is now feeling pretty much at home with the Blues. There were rumors of him possibly following Sarri to Juventus but all these were shot down by his agent Joao Santos. Better yet, he has become a vital player for Lampard who eventually went on to back him. Jorginho is thankful for the gesture and is aware not all managers would go out of their way to do so.

“I thank him for the sincerity he showed towards me in public. He didn’t have to do that, and not every manager does it. He’s a legend inside the club, so people listen to what he says,” Jorginho said.

Jorginho admitted that following Sarri at Juventus did cross his mind. Instead, he opted to stick around and prove detractors wrong. So far he has been doing a good job and has proven that negativity can be a source of motivation to prove critics wrong. For now, Jorginho joins fellow footballers waiting to see when football action will resume. League officials are discussing that right now with games likely to be held without fans in the stands.
