Queen Elizabeth has been a huge inspiration to the Britons for decades, and most especially during the coronavirus pandemic. Her Majesty has shown strength and stability to the public. She also earned more praise with the speech she delivered in early April.

However, a new report claimed that Queen Elizabeth may be handing over her role to Prince Charles. But despite the prolonged lockdown, which is believed to last until 2021, Her Majesty will never abdicate.

A source revealed that Queen Elizabeth may be passing most of her duties to Prince Charles next year. This decision led to speculations that Her Majesty’s reign may be coming to an end.

"The Queen will keep calm and carry on, but there is nothing to stop her following her husband into a form of retirement,” he wrote in a 2017 column. "I understand she has hinted that she would consider a Prince Charles Regency at 95. There is nothing to stop her from doing this."

Robert Jobson pointed out that he doesn’t believe that Queen Elizabeth would ever abdicate. Her Majesty has pledged to serve her country for all her life and she had always been true to her words.

“The Queen will certainly never abdicate,” royal author Phil Dampier echoed Robert Jobson’s statement. "At the moment she is in excellent health and so she won't be giving this serious thought right now. In fact, I know she has told friends that she wants to live to 100 like her mother. The only reason a regency would ever be contemplated if is she became seriously ill, either mentally or physically. But I don't believe she would consider an artificial cut off time such as reaching 95. She will consider the situation as each year passes."

Due to the global heal crisis, Queen Elizabeth will be spending most of her time indoor than completing her normal royal duties. Those who are over 70 are considered to be most at risk of catching severe COVID-19, which means Her Majesty, 94, and Prince Charles, 71, are expected to follow the strict government guidelines.

It was previously reported that Queen Elizabeth already segregated some of her duties to the younger royals even before the coronavirus outbreak. As of the moment, Prince William and Kate Middleton have ramped up their royal duties. Recently, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have been increasing their efforts to support NHS staff and social carers’ mental health during the pandemic.
