Russia reported 10,633 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 as of Sunday night, the highest number recorded in Europe in the past 24 hours. The country now has 134,687 total confirmed cases which remain to still be lower than the hardest-hit nations in Europe.

Russia's fatality rate has also remained low in comparison to Italy and Spain in Europe, as well as the United States when countries outside the continent are factored in.  Russia reported 58 fatalities over the past 24 hours, with a total  of 1,280 deaths.

Most of the infections in Russia were recorded in Moscow where local officials are calling for residents to stay home.  Even with a new daily high in the number of new cases, the government of Vladimir Putin is looking into lifting lockdown measures from May 12 among those less-hard regions.

Other parts of Europe, as well as the hard-hit nations, are also looking to lift lockdown measures gradually as low deaths are recorded in the past weeks.

France reported new 135 deaths, Spain 165, and Italy 174. The latter has been recording low number of fatalities for two months now.

Spain has been reporting low number of deaths for a month and a half now. As of Sunday, it slashed more than a hundred more to its reported deaths compared to the previous weeks. With this, adults and children below 14 years old are now allowed to exercise outdoors. The country is among those with the strictest lockdown measures all across Europe and Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez is set to continue some of the strict policies. He required everyone to wear masks when outdoors, most especially those on public transportations.

Aside from low deaths, Italy is also seeing a decline in new infections and the number of patients being admitted to ICU. The country has, therefore, eased its lockdown starting Monday and Italians are going to be allowed to exercise as long as they observer physical distancing and other health measures that are still in place. To prevent the second wave of infections, however, schools, cinemas, and other leisure shops are remained to be in temporary closures probably up until June.  Restaurants and bars will only be allowed to welcome 50% of their usual capacity by June.

France reported its lowest daily death toll on Sunday, the lowest it reported since March 22.  The number of patients admitted to ICU has also been declining since April 9.

The United Kingdom so far holds the largest number of new deaths at 315 as of Sunday.  Still, however, British officials insist the outbreak has peaked with the number of patients also declining.

As of May 4, there are 3,506,924 million total confirmed cases of COVID-19 worldwide. Deaths globally are now at 247,473.
