Prince Harry, Meghan Markle and their son, Archie Harrison, was originally planning to spend the summer with Queen Elizabeth in her estate in Balmoral. But due to the coronavirus pandemic, the Sussexes are likely going to cancel their summer plans to protect the Queen's health and safety.
A report from Hello cites that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, or any member of the royal family for that matter, won't be traveling to Balmoral this summer. Queen Elizabeth and her husband, Prince Philip, plan to stay in Windsor Castle for the "foreseeable future" to ensure that they won't contract the virus.
Queen Elizabeth will continue to follow the guidelines and advice from the government. Thus, she will, instead, stay in touch with her family and friends through phone calls, chats and video calls. They will have less physical contact with the monarch as much as possible due to her and the Duke of Edinburgh's vulnerability to the coronavirus disease, COVID-19.
Just days before the Queen traveled to Windsor Castle to isolate, she invited Prince Harry, Meghan and Archie to visit her in the summer. The Sussexes were supposed to return to London in June for the annual Trooping the Colour celebration. From there, the Sussexes were supposed to travel to Balmoral with the Queen.
However, Buckingham Palace canceled the Trooping the Colour event, along with a handful of royal activities due to the pandemic. The government continues to advice for the vulnerable population, or those above 70 years old, to stay at home and remain in isolation.
Her Majesty normally travels to Balmoral sometime in July and stays there until the end of the summer. This castle is widely regarded as the Queen's favorite residence. Her grandchildren believe that she is happiest in this Highland estate because she can relax and chill out with her family.
"Walks, picnics, dogs -- a lot of dogs, there's always dogs -- and people coming in and out all the time," Princess Eugenie said of their Balmoral summer experiences with Queen Elizabeth. "It's a lovely base for Granny and Grandpa, for us to come and see them up there, where you just have room to breathe and run."
At Balmoral, the royal family often have lunches outdoors and a lot of time to explore the fields. Queen Elizabeth even washes the dishes piling on the sink. Prince Philip used to do the barbecue while the younger royals play.
But with the current state of the world, the opening of the Balmoral estate has been delayed. There are public sites that people can actually visit but it's still unclear if these will be open this year.
