More connections between the two worlds in The King: Eternal Monarch will be revealed in the upcoming episodes. Lee Gon will finally have a word with his traitor uncle, Lee Lim, Detective Jung Tae Eul might finally meet Luna, and Detective Kang Shin Jae will dig deeper about his past.
In the previous episode, Lee Gon (Lee Min Ho) found out that there is a deeper link between the two universes than what he had thought. Firstly, the King and Captain Jo Young (Woo Do Hwan) learned that an owner of a restaurant in the Republic of Korea is from their world after he recognized the king.
Secondly, it was revealed that detective Kang Shin Jae (Kim Kyung Nam) also came from Lee Gon's world. It appeared that someone brought him to the Republic of Korea when he was young. Some of his childhood memories also came back to him such as the time when he saw the young prince Lee Gon crying when his father died.
It also resolved the mystery as to why Shin Jae has been unconsciously doodling the Kingdom of Corea insignia. It was because he was born in the other world and he had seen the symbol when he was young. The detective may find out in the upcoming episode why he was brought to the Republic of Korea and where his doppelganger is his world.
It is also interesting to note that Lee Lim somehow shows a special interest in Shin Jae. In last week's episodes, Lee Lim ordered someone to follow and took pictures of the detective. How are the two characters connected?
Meanwhile, Lee Gon will find out that his uncle, Lee Lim, did not age. He will also finally have a word with him. In the teaser for The King: Eternal Monarch Episode 9, the King was seen talking to Lee Lim over the phone and he warned his uncle that he better hide well.
Captain Jo will have his second encounter with Na Ri (Kim Yong-Ji), who taught that he is Jo Eun Sup. Na Ri is getting suspicious of Jo Young. In the teaser, she tells Detective Jung Tae Eul (Kim Go Eun) that Eun Sup is getting odd in the past few days.
Elsewhere, Lee Gon and Jo Young will also return to the kingdom to find out who brought Shin Jae to the other world and why. In the previous episode, the King told the detective that he is the reason why he needs to go back to his world.
Tae Eul could also come face-to-face with her doppelganger Luna. She was seen in the teaser walking around Luna's neighborhood.
The King: Eternal Monarch Episode 9 airs on May 15 at 10 p.m. KST on JTBC. It will also be available on Netflix.
