BLACKPINK's Jisoo is the best choice to play the lead role in the drama adaptation of popular webtoon True Beauty. In a recent survey, the singer received 2 million fan votes to show strong support for her first major acting role.
The survey, conducted by Kpopmap, pitted five potential candidates for the lead female role in the drama series. The list included AOA's Seolhyun, Chae Soo Bin, BLACKPINK's Jisoo, Kim Yoo Jung, and Kim Hye Yoon.
The site gave their readers the power to vote for their favorite choice and Jisoo overwhelmingly dominated the survey with 67.3 percent of the votes. This translated to 2,364,863 votes from fans.
Kim Hye Yoon, who recently portrayed a comic book character in series Extraordinary You after her successful stint in Sky Castle, took second place with half the number of Jisoo's votes. The actress received 1,100,888 votes or 31.3% of the votes.
Kim Yoo Jung landed in third place with 16,644 votes. Chae Soo Bin received 13,790 votes while Seolhyun received 5,544 votes. Some fans voted for other options not included in the choices and this made up 12,088 votes.
ASTRO's Cha Eun Woo, another top choice to play the lead in the True Beauty drama adaptation, has reportedly been offered the role. His management, Fantagio, said that the idol and actor are positively reviewing the offer, Soompi reported.
True Beauty, a webtoon written by Yaongi revolved around a popular makeup artist who does not want anyone to see her without cosmetics because she was ridiculed for her middling looks when she was young. The series talks about her love story with her former schoolmate who falls in love with her, knowing what she naturally looks like without the makeup.
ASTRO's Cha Eun Woo is no stranger to playing roles from webtoon adaptations. His first lead role was or My ID is Gangnam Beauty where he starred opposite Im Soo Hyang. He also played a supporting role in the first season of Revenge Note and took another lead role in the saeguk romance Rookie Historian Goo Hae Ryung
However, it remains to be seen whether Jisoo will be able to film for the role. It was recently reported that BLACKPINK is finally ready to make a comeback this June, more than a year after the release of their hit Kill This Love. YG Entertainment has yet to release BLACKPINK's promotional schedule for their comeback, anoteher report from Soompi indicated.
