Kate Middleton looks every bit of a princess. Even though the Duchess of Cambridge was born a commoner, her physical appearance is what most of us have in mind when we think of royalties.

What makes Kate Middleton attractive is not only because she has a gorgeous face and fit physique, but because she also exudes elegance and confidence. However, this wasn’t always the case.

A new report claims that Kate Middleton was insecure about her looks. While most people would find that had to believe since she caught the attention of a real-life prince, the Duchess of Cambridge was, reportedly, not as confident as she appears now.

“Even though she had secured the most sought-after boy at St. Andrews, she never gloated,” a friend told the royal biographer Katie Nicholl. “She was actually quite insecure about her looks and never considered herself pretty. She was very sweet and very shy.”

In fact, a previous report also claimed that Kate Middleton was jealous of her sister Pippa. Just like most siblings, the sisters were also pretty competitive during their younger years. Although they may currently have found contentment with their lives, it wasn’t the case in the past at all.

Kate Middleton and Pippa have always been close, but they are not immune to sibling rivalry. The Duchess of Cambridge was, reportedly, “jealous” and “competitive” with her younger sister.

“Kate and Pippa were hugely competitive,” Emma Sayle, who attended Downe House with the Middleton sisters, said in 2010. “There was always that thing of who could be the thinnest and who could be the prettiest.”

In 2008, journalist Emma Cowing wrote in "The Scotsman" that there is still jealousy between Kate Middleton and Pippa even though they are now older and have completely different lives. While the Duchess of Cambridge’s name is on everyone’s lips right now, her younger sister was the more popular one between the two back in the days.

“Kate was always quite jealous of Pippa,” she shared. “I sensed that she feared being eclipsed by her because Pippa has more natural effervescence, she is socially much more at ease and was always popular with everyone, especially James’ friends. She was very charming about it but quite ruthless in cultivating the right friends. If she found out that someone had impressive social credentials – the right titles, standing, connections – she would immediately pay them a lot of attention, whereas before she wouldn’t have shown the least interest.”
