There is little doubt that playing a superhero can be a daunting task for actors. After all, they would need to prepare for the role through intense workout routines and strict diets. However, it looks like Robert Pattinson isn't up for exercising in preparation for The Batman amidst the coronavirus outbreak. The former Twilight actor has just admitted that he has no intention of doing what his trainer is telling him to do during the mandatory self-quarantine.
People were understandably surprised when it was announced that Robert Pattinson will play the Dark Knight in The Batman. Although the Rover star is known for his acting prowess and versatility, some were not fully convinced that he could portray the DC comic book hero. In addition to that, some fans were uncertain that Pattinson could bulk up for the role in the same way that Ben Affleck had to gain muscles to play Bruce Wayne in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Nevertheless, people soon accepted the fact that Pattinson will be taking the role in the Matt Reeves film.
Not surprisingly, Robert Pattinson did the necessary preparations to embody the superhero. There were reports that the Lighthouse actor was taking jiu-jitsu lessons and was working out for the role. However, things changed when filming for The Batman was put on hold due to COVID-19. Pattinson has just admitted that he hasn't been working out while he is in self-quarantine.
In an interview with GQ, Robert Pattinson shared that he has been ignoring his trainer who has been trying to get him to continue working out at home. "I think if you're working out all the time, you're part of the problem," Pattinson said. He then added that when you exercise, "you set a precedent. No one was doing this in the '70s, even James Dean-he wasn't exactly ripped."
Interestingly, Robert Pattinson even pointed out that his own The Batman co-stars have been working out while in quarantine. He shared that Mad Max: Fury Road actress Zoe Kravitz, who has been cast as Catwoman in the film, continues to exercise five days a week. On the other hand, he simply has been staying still. "Literally, I'm just barely doing anything," Pattinson said.
For now, Robert Pattinson might want to relax while he is in quarantine and things could change once production on The Batman resumes. In the meantime, the film is scheduled for release on October 1, 2021.
