Agents of SHIELD season 7 episode 1 is coming within a few weeks on ABC, with the title "The New Deal." While the episode title may be referenced to what Franklin D. Roosevelt has established, the story may have something to do with what's actually happening within the series itself.
In Agents of SHIELD season 7 episode 1, the SHIELD travels through time -- something that they need to do in order to save everyone and everything. They could save the present day if they'd go back and save the past. And while on their journey, there could be a few surprises and twists along the way.
The synopsis notes that Coulson and the Agents of SHIELD travel back in time and stranded in 1931 New York City. The team needs to hurry and figure out what really happened as the all-new Zephyr is set to time jump any moment.
If the team fails, it could lead to a disaster for the past, present, and future of the world. This mission proved to be challenging for them, given that they have to race against time. One wrong move could mean permanent damage to the world and everyone.
Meanwhile, Agents of SHIELD season 7 episode 1 also features the appearance of Patton Oswalt. The actor, who has played multiple members of the Koenig family, is set to return in the series' finale. He had appeared as brothers Eric, Billy, Sam, and Thurston.
It remains to be seen what would be Oswalt's roles this time. But considering the times-spanning events of the upcoming installment, it's likely that he'll play again as one of the members of the Koenig family. Perhaps, the first member of the family joining the agents.
The series' final run also brings a significant character from Agent Carter. It has been previously confirmed that Enver Gjokaj will reprise his role as the Strategic Scientific Reserve agent Daniel Sousa in Agents of SHIELD season 7.
Since the new season serves as the last one for the series, it could set up big stories moving forward. It probably feels like the end of a particular era, with the SHIELD traveling back to the early days of the MCU. There could also be a more time travel adventure, as well as new enemies.
