Prince Philip and Queen Elizabeth II have been staying in Windsor Castle for more than a month now. Since mid-March, the royal couple decided to relocate to the Berkshire property to observe self-isolation amid the pandemic crisis.

This has been a new move in their marriage considering that they are no longer living together for years. While the British Monarch stays in Buckingham Palace, the Duke of Edinburgh stays in Sandringham as he enjoys his retirement.

According to Express UK, Prince Philip stepped back from his royal duties at 96-years-old. He accomplished more than 22,200 solo engagements in his time serving the Crown. He is also the patron of more than 700 organizations, to which he has remained active in some of them until today.

After announcing his retirement in 2017, he relocated to the Queen's estate in Norfolk. Although he would spend much less time with his wife, reports revealed that the Prince Consort has since preferred this.

The reason behind this preference is that he reportedly wanted to live a peaceful life now that he is no longer a working royal. It was said that he would continue to help Queen Elizabeth II in her duties and responsibilities if he stayed with her in London during his retirement.

So, despite wanting to be with his wife, he reportedly opted to live far away from her. He now also enjoys his much quieter life at the farm with his books and paintings, as per claims.

In a similar report released by Cheat Sheet, royal insiders shared that, despite the distance between the couple, Prince Philip and Queen Elizabeth II still "make their marriage work." They reportedly managed to keep the bond "strong" even though they don't get much time to spend with each other.

Other sources also said that the royal couple always communicates through phone calls and other means of communication. They also see each other depending on the British Monarch's schedule.

The publication then added that Prince Philip and Queen Elizabeth II get to stay with each other for months in Sandringham during the holiday season. The Queen usually leaves for London after the day of her father's death in February.

To date, as they continue to observe social isolation at Windsor Castle, reports said that the Queen and her husband are, somehow, grateful for the extra time that they could spend with each other. While temporary, they reportedly enjoy every moment and make the most out of it every time.
