BLACKPINK will finally be releasing their first full album in September. YG Entertainment announced the good news to BLINKs.
According to the label, BLACKPINK's comeback will still push through in June but fans will have two more comebacks to look forward to this year, culminating in a final album that will be released in September, Soompi reported.
The label announced that BLACKPINK has finished recording more than 10 songs which will be enough to cover a full album. This news has long been anticipated by BLINKs who expressed dissatisfaction over the way the agency has been managing the careers of Jennie, Lisa, Jisoo, and Rose.
In December, they started a protest in front of YG Entertainment and listed their demands on an LED truck parked in front of the YG office. Among their demands were at least two comebacks for BLACKPINK per year and better promotions for the members' activities, Billboard reported.
BLINKs also demanded that YG release the solo debuts of other BLACKPINK members which they promised long before Yang Hyun Suk stepped down as CEO of the company. It seems that YG Entertainment took the fan demands to heart, even though it took a while for them to make good on their commitment.
YG announced that the first song which will be released in the middle of June is a pre-release track. They assured that members are already preparing well for their comeback and are currently filming the music video for the song.
The label said that BLACKPINK members are also busy with the final preparations for their return to the stage, practicing their new choreography.
Based on the record label's plans, the second song will be unique from anything that the girls have done before, but they refused to elaborate on the details. The last phase of the comeback will be the full album in September.
YG explained that it took a long time to complete the album and expressed hope that BLINKs will be happy with the result. They said that the three-phased plan is expected to provide more opportunities for BLACKPINK to meet more of their fans throughout the year.
Before their comeback in June, BLACKPINK will be featured in a track for Lady Gaga's Chromatica. The song Sour Candy is the biggest collaboration between a Kpop idol act and an international music icon to date.
BLACKPINK's new album is also expected to feature a collaboration with Ariana's Grade's producer Tommy Brown as well as a track rumored to be written by G-Dragon and produced by 2NE1's ace producer Teddy.
