ARMYs have a lot of nicknames for Jungkook. From “Kookie” to “Baby Bunny” — the BTS star earned them all. But anyone would agree that the one title that fits the BTS star the most is the “Golden Maknae.” In fact, RM was the one who gave JK that title when the BTS leader introduced him at the beginning of their career.

Jungkook had been dubbed as BTS’s “Golden Maknae” since he was 15 years old. Now, the “Euphoria” singer is 22 and many are convinced that he still holds that title.

What made Jungkook earn the “Golden Maknae” status is the fact that he is good at everything. The BTS star is an all-rounder, from singing to dancing to drawing to doing sports — you name it and he can do it well.

Jungkook sometimes flexes his “Golden Maknae” title, especially when he’s convincing the older members that he can do something. But in Episode 5 of BTS’s new docuseries Break The Silence, JK shared his real thoughts about being called the “Golden Maknae.”

“I envy the image people have of me,” Jungkook said. “People call me the Golden Maknae, but that’s not how I feel, so I have to try harder to make myself appear that way.”

Just like most artists in the music industry, Jungkook also has a stage persona. Although he doesn’t have a stage name, being called the “Golden Maknae” has stuck to everyone’s mind when they think about him.

But as Jeon Jungkook, it seems that the BTS star is not as confident with his skills off cam. He even wrote an unreleased song “Decalcomania” with the lyrics, “When I see you smile on the screen, you’re good at everything. You’re just perfect. Feels like I’ve never been you.”

ARMYs know that Jungkook is a perfectionist and is always hard on himself. The BTS boys previously praised JK for being good at everything, but then he shared that he’s not happy about it because he doesn’t want to be just good at something, he wants to be great at it.

While having the pressure as BTS’s Jungkook is understandable, it seems that JK is also tough on Jeon Jungkook. Even though ARMYs and his members see him as the “Golden Maknae” on and off cam, he sees himself as someone who should live up to that title.
