"Assassin's Creed Valhalla" is one of the highly awaited and much-talked-about titles allegedly arriving this year. There was a wide range of rumors circulating about the game before it was officially revealed, but none predicted that it would feature the Viking rap battles. The game's creative director recently shed light on how this works in the upcoming action-adventure title.

The official "Assassin's Creed" Twitter account recently shared a video, which explains the upcoming game's flyting feature. Creative Director Ashraf Ismail revealed the details of the Vikings rap battles in "Assassin's Creed Valhalla." He explained that someone could challenge Eivor, the main protagonist of the game, to one of these rap battles.

The player is given several choices of response, and he should choose the right choice that matches the insult, Ismail said. The flyting feature is not only a new feature in "Assassin's Creed Valhalla" but is based on history. The creative director pointed out that both Anglo-Saxons and Vikings would insult each other in rhymes over a few drinks for the cheers of the crowd around them.

Eurogamer points out in a report that the flyting feature of "Assassin's Creed Valhalla" is somehow the same as the insult sword fighting feature of "The Secret Monkey Island." The famous point and click adventure title from LucasArts allows players to win a fight by rattling insults to opponents. It is interesting that a proper side mechanic like flyting is available in the upcoming title.

It also underlines how the games in "Assassin's Creed" series perfectly capture the tone and feel of the settings it is historically based. By incorporating mechanics such as this, Ubisoft is ensuring that players have lots to look forward to in "Assassin's Creed Valhalla." The idea of Vikings battle and conquest is already exciting, but smaller elements like flyting make it more salivating.

Ubisoft first announced the game on Apr 29, 2020, with a first-ever online reveal in collaboration with BossLogic. A few days later, the gaming studio released the gameplay trailer of "Assassin's Creed Valhalla." Ubisoft has not yet revealed the release date of the upcoming action-adventure title but announced that it arrives sometime in the holiday of 2020.

"Assassin's Creed Valhalla" releases on PS4, Xbox One, PS5, Xbox Series X, PC, and Google Stadia. Whispers online have it that Ubisoft's latest installment to the popular "Assassin's Creed" series is coming in Oct 2020.
