Ivanka Trump made into the headlines on Thursday when she praised a 15-year-old girl in India. The First Daughter shared a post on Twitter about the teenager, Jyoti Kumari, who reportedly cycled her way home carrying her "injured father."

The shocking news was largely featured on the local news last week as it was extraordinary. As it happened, she reportedly rode her bike for seven days with a total distance of 750 miles (1200 kilometers).

This comes after the "vast lockdown" in New Delhi, India has put several individuals out of work, leading many people to go home to their provinces. On Jyoti Kumari's part, she had to carry her father, Mohan Paswan, at the back of her cycle because of his injury. From Gurugram, in North India, they spent days on the road just to get home to Darbhanga district, Bihar, in East India.

After the news went viral, Ivanka Trump shared the story on her social media account and praised the teenager for what happened. She deemed the whole matter as a "beautiful" act of "endurance" and "love."

The First Daughter went on to share that the story of Jyoti Kumari and Mohan Paswan has "captured" the attention and imagination of the Indian people, as well as the country's cycling federation.

As per the Daily Mail, the Indian teen got an invite from the federation for "trials." It was also added that the invite came after they got "impressed" with the girl's "endurance." This could "groom" her into becoming a "cyclist," the reports added.

Following the social media post, Ivanka Trump received tons of criticisms from many people across the globe. As reported, even Indian officials shared their thoughts about the matter as the majority deemed the First Daughter's tweet as more of a "celebration," which is reportedly not appropriate.

The former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Omar Abdullah responded to the First Daughter's post, as per the publication. In his response, he reportedly pointed out that the Indian teenager's "poverty" and "desperation" are "glorified" as if she cycled "for the thrill of it." But, the truth is, the "Government failed her," which is hardly something to celebrate, he added.

A member of the parliament's opposition also agreed to the official's response. Kanti Chidambaram reportedly asserted that what happened to Jyoti Kumari and Mohan Paswan is "not a feat of excellence." It is an act of "desperation" because of the "callous attitude" of the Government, he continued.

Several netizens, especially from India, also chimed in on the comment section, according to The Sun US. Based on the general reception, the majority slammed and attacked Ivanka Trump. They also called her out and deemed her "clueless" for the "horrific experience" that many Indians have had to go through amid the pandemic crisis.
