Before Meghan Markle came to the scene, Prince Harry had a couple of former girlfriends. Aside from Chelsy Davy, the Duke of Sussex had a relationship with Cressida Bonas. With three years of romance, why did these two did not end up together?
Cressida Bonan finally gave a rare interview about her romance with Prince Harry. Here, she revealed the real reason behind their split.
In an interview with The Daily Telegraph, the 31-year-old actress revealed that she had "a lot of fears about joining the royal family." Sadly, these fears resulted in her breakup with the now-father-of-one in 2014.
The United Kingdom model admitted that fear of failing, rejection, doing things wrong, and not being perfect gave her a limit in "certain situations" in her life, including her romance with the prince. Anyhow, according to Marie Claire, with the treatment the Duchess of Sussex has been receiving today, people may understand the fear that controls Cressida Bonas from continuing her romance with Prince Harry.
She even believes their separation gives her a "stronger sense of purpose" of what she wants and does not want. Despite their split, she seems to be very content with her current relationship, being engaged to another Harry, her fiancé Harry Wentworth-Stanley.
She is also more focused on her acting career and even promoting her new show, White House Farm. She now works "very, very hard" and loves what she does, hoping that her new role will show people what she can and will like to do from this day forward, not putting her in a box in any way.
Clearly, things have worked out just right between Prince Harry and Cressida Bonas. They are both doing great with their respective partners. There are also no hard feelings between the two, as she even attended his royal wedding with Meghan Markle in 2018.
Daily Mail noted that the former couple started dating in 2012. Cressida Bonas was a long-time friend of Prince Harry's cousin, Princess Eugenie, who introduced the two to each other. They dated for three years and called it quits in 2014.
At the time, she, reportedly, had a hard time to handle the intense level of scrutiny that came with public life by being with a prince. Also, she wanted to make her own path to build her own career.
Two years later, Prince Harry met Meghan Markle on a blind date. In 2018, they finally got married and welcomed their son, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, in 2019. Cressida Bonas, alternatively, was about to get married but canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, just like Princess Beatrice.
