Prince Harry's veteran's charity, The Endeavour Fund, has been dropped from The Royal Foundation. This is one of the Duke of Sussex's passion projects, which he's now rightfully merging with the Invictus Games Foundation, his other favorite charity.
According to People, the two organizations will be merging amid Prince Harry's exit from the royal family. The Endeavour Fund used to be under The Royal Foundation, which Prince Harry established with his brother and sister-in-law, Prince William and Kate Middleton, several years ago. But now that Prince Harry is trying to strike it on his own, away from the royal family's umbrella, then some of his work and support for organizations will be changing as well.
The Endeavour Fund takes care of sick and injured military veterans, a job that Prince Harry also had for over a decade as a former army serviceman. The Invictus Games Foundation, on the other hand, is a Paralympic-style event for wounded veterans and service people.
Dominic Reid, the Invictus Games Foundation CEO, said in a statement that they welcome The Endeavour Fund under their wing as they work on making an impact for the recovery and rehabilitation of brave soldiers who have been injured or sick because of their service to the country. The Endeavour Fund also confirmed that they are joining the Invictus family in a tweet.
Prince Harry hinted the changes in his speech during his last get together with The Endeavour Fund in March, alongside his wife, Meghan Markle. He said that the foundation has "an even greater future ahead" as the initiative expands to further impact more people.
Jason Knauf, the chief executive of The Royal Foundation, also issued a statement to say that they are proud of both The Endeavour Fund and the Invictus Games Foundation's work through the years. Knauf wished for the continued success of these two passion projects of the Duke of Sussex.
It comes as Prince Harry declared in October that he and Prince William are now on different paths. Prince Harry officially stepped back from his royal role on March 31 and has established Archewell with Meghan to replace the Sussex Royal Foundation.
It's unclear for now, however, if Archewell will also tie up with The Endeavour Fund and the Invictus Games Foundation. Prince Harry and Meghan have yet to launch Archewell. They are waiting for the right timing since the world is still grappling with the pandemic crisis.
