China stands by its promise to provide aid to developing countries in fighting against the pandemic by suspending debt repayment of 77 developing countries and other poor countries. The state would closely work with the international community to promote the resumption of work and human resources in mitigating the adverse effects of social and economic development.

In a Beijing news conference, vice-foreign minister Ma Zhaoxu of China announced that the country would suspend the debt repayments of some 77 developing countries and regions. The coverage would also include the most impoverished countries who are registered under G20's Debt Service Suspension Initiative.

China would also impose a cooperation mechanism for Chinese hospitals to extend its aid to 30 African hospitals. The construction of the United Nations humanitarian hub in the country is also under negotiation as China prepares for its mechanisms.

Ma further discussed that bilateral aid and multilateral donations would include the provision of anti-pandemic equipment. Also, support for the resumption of economic and social development post-pandemic was offered.

The initiative was revealed by China's President Xi Jinping in a speech during the opening of the 73rd session of the World Health Assembly. China would provide about two billion USD for two years as financial aid for countries recovering from the pandemic. The purpose of the grant was said to be for economic and social development of these affected countries.

During a news conference, the State Council Information Office also showcased a white paper entitled "Fighting COVID-19: China In Action." The white paper would unveil the records of China's efforts in helping other countries recover from the pandemic. It further clarifies the outlook from a global perspective.

Chinese local governments, civil organizations, including persons, have shared their donations through medical supplies to over 150 countries and regions. They also contributed to international organizations as well.

From March until the end of May, China has exported medical aid and supplies to over 200 countries and regions. In sum, it already supplied 70.6 billion face masks, and 340 million protective gear and other supplies to fight against the virus.

Ma further revealed that China has held over 180 videoconferences and coordinated with experts from over 170 countries and international organizations to fulfil its mission against the pandemic. He also said that all these efforts demonstrate the willingness to help and China's sense of responsibility as a significant country globally. He also claimed that China has advanced its cooperation with other countries and developed stronger relations despite the crisis.
