Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are two of the most popular members of the Royal family. So when the Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced earlier this year that they will step down as senior royals, many were shocked with their decision.
Since Prince Harry had been dealing with the downside of being royal all his life, many believed that their withdrawal had something to do with Meghan Markle’s struggles. Just two years after their marriage, the couple has now officially turned their backs on Royal life to start fresh in the US.
Now, a new report revealed that one royal claims that she knows the real reason why Meghan Markle struggled being royal. In a rare interview Sophie, Countess of Wessex shared that she knew what the Duchess of Sussex was feeling because she felt it too.
According to Prince Edward’s wife, Meghan Markle may have struggled with adjusting to the spotlight. Although the Duchess of Sussex was an actress before tying the knot with Prince Harry two years ago, meaning she should have been used to the limelight, she may have realized that being a celebrity and a royal are two completely different things.
Sophie, Countess of Wessex pointed out that Meghan Markle was quickly thrust into the spotlight. After dating for two years, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex got married in 2018. Sophie said that she was glad that she had a long courtship with Prince Edward.
"Remember I'd had five years to adjust,” Sophie, Countess of Wessex told The Sunday Times magazine.
Sophie’s revelation seemed to apply to previous reports saying that Prince William told Prince Harry to not rush things. While the Duke of Cambridge only meant well when he advised his brother to slow things down, the Duke of Sussex, reportedly, didn’t take it well as he saw it as criticism. He was also upset that he felt that his older brother was not being supportive of his relationship with Meghan Markle.
Speculations about Prince William and Prince Harry’s feud started in February 2019, and events after that ignited the rumors even more. The Sussexes suddenly removed themselves from their joint foundation with the Cambridges, which seemingly confirmed the rift between the famous couples.
Late last year, Prince Harry finally addressed the status of his relationship with Prince William. The Duke of Sussex explained that he and his brother are “on different paths” now, but assured everyone that they will always love and support each other.
