One of the most interesting storylines entering Blue Bloods season 11 is Bridget Moynahan's Erin Reagan arc. She is one of the compelling characters within the series, and unlike the rest of her family, she is the only Reagan who is not a police officer.
Erin works in the DA's office; she tried to put bad people behind bars -- which could include cops. She has to find the truth in all scenarios, regardless of whether it's easy or not. This is something the character has been doing for quite a while and will further continue in Blue Bloods season 11.
Unlike her brothers and father, Erin's storyline is moving in an obvious direction. In the upcoming installment, she could likely find herself in a precarious situation. She's contemplating a run for DA, but she recognized that she needs to deal with a strong anti-police sentiment in the public.
If ever Erin chose not to take a stand for police reform, there's a huge chance she won't get elected when she runs. However, if she chose to take a strong stand, she could likely alienate her own family. The Reagans aren't for police brutality, yet this is something that should be tackled in Blue Bloods season 11.
For Erin, in particular, she must come up with an outside point of view. She needs to address some issues and problems that Frank should closely examine. Her storyline could focus more on trying to make New York City a better place and society.
The upcoming installment is, perhaps, one of the most challenging for the CBS series. The story has to look at the recent events, address some of it, and deliver an explanation. The show hasn't shied away from the current events -- even before. So, it'll probably take a close look again now.
But apart from addressing the current events, Erin's story could also explore other aspects of her life in Blue Bloods season 11. There's still a lot to address when it comes to her personal life. For instance, her romantic life and relationship with her daughter, Nicky, are worth exploring as well.
Meanwhile, nothing is confirmed when it comes to the official release date of the upcoming installment. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, cast and crew won't be able to go back filming anytime soon. Hence, the arrival might potentially be delayed.
The series usually arrives in the fall, dropping in September and ending in May. But then, this particular schedule will not be followed for Blue Bloods season 11. The production will most likely start when things get better and the situation goes back to normal.
