Prince William will celebrate his 38th birthday on June 21. The event is particularly special as it also falls on Father’s Day. According to a royal commentator, the Duke of Cambridge will likely think of his mother Princess Diana during this day.

Katie Nicholl told OK! magazine that Prince William “misses” Princess Diana. The Duke of Cambridge is said to be keeping his mother’s memories alive, not only for himself but for his children Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis as well.

"It must be emotional for him that she’s not here to share this,” she said. “[Princess Diana is] still a significant part of his life so inevitably, on his birthday, his thoughts will be with her.”

Katie Nicholl noted that Prince William has photos of Princess Diana around his house and speaks about his mom to his kids. The royal commentator shared that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge share stories about the Princess of Wales to Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis and told them that they would love their grandmother.

In a BBC One documentary, Prince William opened up about his struggles to cope with the death of Princess Diana at a young age. The Duke of Cambridge shared that the effect on his emotions didn’t stop as it dragged until he became a father. He also had a candid discussion about mental health and moved a lot of people with it.

Prince William shared the trauma that he endured after losing his mother to former Premier League footballer Marvin Sordell in the documentary. Marvin knew this feeling as his father was absent in his life during his childhood.

The Duke of Cambridge then told Marvin that his father would be “very proud” of him. The former Premier League footballer assured Prince William that Princess Diana would be proud of him too. “I appreciate that,” the future King said.

Princess Diana had been a huge influence on Prince William and Prince Harry. The People’s Princess showed her boys that they can still live a normal life despite being a member of the Royal Family. The first wife of Prince Charles ignored several royal protocols for her sons, such as taking them to a secret trip to McDonald's for Happy Meal toys.

Just like Princess Diana, Prince William and Kate Middleton are also well-loved by the public. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are two of the most popular members of the Royal Family.
