Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are no longer working royals after they officially stepped down from their roles at the end of March. And just like most decisions, theirs also came with a price.

Aside from losing their HRH titles and Prince Harry’s military title, the couple will also be banned from using the word “royal” in their future activities. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex then released a statement that they had no intention of using the “Sussex Royal” brand in their new venture.

Back in April, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced the name of their new foundation Archewell. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex shared that they were inspired by the word “Arche” for their new foundation, which is also the name of their son (Archie).

Now, a new report revealed that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s application to trademark Archewell has been rejected. However, the reason behind it being turned down had nothing to do with the couple’s background or the name of the foundation.

According to the Sun, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle didn’t sign the application and the paper is, reportedly, “too vague.” Also, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex didn’t pay the required fees for the trademark.

There are a couple more things that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle need to do to successfully trademark Archewell. If they fail to comply by August 22, the application will be “abandoned.”

This is not the first time that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle face an issue regarding Archewell. After learning about the name of the couple’s new foundation, it was brutally mocked online.

People are not as impressed with the name as many may have expected. Some even compared it to two controversial brands such as Tom Cruise’s religion Scientology and Gwyneth Paltrow’s wellness and lifestyle company Goop. Some also said that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s new foundation name sounds like “dog food” and a “City Hedge Fund.”

Also, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s key error led internet trolls to make fun of the Archewell Foundation website. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex forgot to register the domain name and trolls redirect the link to Kanye West's “Gold Digger” music video.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have not shared any new update regarding Archewell as their plans came to a screeching halt due to the coronavirus outbreak. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are currently residing in Los Angeles with their son Archie and they are following the implemented lockdown like everyone else.
