Meghan Markle is now more open to talking about politics after she and her husband, Prince Harry, stepped down as senior royals. As they openly support the Black Lives Matter movement, is she now considering a political career?

In her virtual speech for her former high school, Immaculate Heart, she talked about the death of George Floyd and other African Americans who were victims of racism. According to Town & Country, she was the first member of the Royal Family who spoke about the issue.

Although Queen Elizabeth II's Commonwealth Trust and Head's Together showed their support to the movement, no one personally addressed the problem. A spokesperson told the magazine that the Duchess of Sussex felt the need to directly discuss the topic and speak to the new graduates about what was happening in the United States that surrounded George Floyd's death and other Black Americans.

In her speech, the former actress referred to the phrase Black Lives Matter. Since then, Amelia Windsor, Queen Elizabeth II's first cousin, talked about the movement on Instagram and even attended a protest in Cambridge.

As the Royal Family is apolitical, they cannot talk about the issue, following the task of being politically neutral. Although the talks about racism and police brutality cannot be considered political, it is already politicized. Hence, they cannot use their platforms to talk about it.

As Prince Harry and Meghan Markle already left their positions as full-time senior working royals, the latter had the chance to talk about the issue. She did not need the Palace's approval to air her side to avoid any controversy.

Dickie Arbiter, Queen Elizabeth's former press secretary, even told Newsweek that if the Sussexes were still in the United Kingdom, the former Suits star could never discuss it. Now that they are out of the monarchy, they are free to support the racial justice movement.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are now, reportedly, focusing on Black Lives Matter. They even plan to do more than just giving a speech.

Allegedly, they are holding meetings with the movement's leaders at every level, from local to international. It has also been said that equity and justice will be one of their top priorities as they prepare the launch of their new foundation, Archewell.

Meanwhile, Daily Mail reported that Meghan Markle is excited about the role she could play in amid the Black Lives Matter protests. Allegedly, she may take this interest to an elected office. A source said this moment might affect her future plans.

As she feels her work as a leader is more important now more than ever, she wants to be part of the solution. The insider added that Meghan Markle wants to use her voice to make a change and may be considering a political career.
