It seems that fans may have to wait a little bit longer before they see Woo Do Hwan in another leading role. The actor has announced that he is preparing to enlist in the military on July 6.

According to a report by Soompi, Woo Do Hwan personally relayed the message to his fans through a handwritten letter. In his letter, Woo Do Hwan apologized to fans for springing the sudden news and confirmed that he will be serving as an active-duty soldier starting July 6.

He said he was sorry that he could not meet fans personally to say goodbye. He expressed gratitude for all the love and support for his projects and thanked fans for watching over him in his 20s which made him very happy.

Woo Do Hwan also shared his hope that everyone will remain happy and healthy through this difficult time as he vowed to also return in good health. He said that he will return to work even harder as an actor and once again expressed his gratefulness to fans by saying that he cannot fully express his feelings in words.

It was previously reported that because of his successful portrayal of a dual role in Lee Min Ho's comeback drama The King: Eternal Monarch, Woo Do Hwan received an offer to play the lead in OCN's crime thriller Hero

Had he been able to accept the project, he would have portrayed the role of a prosecutor who was fired from his job after an altercation with a chaebol son. He, along with several other characters will move towards finding justice in a society that is filled with corruption and abuse.

Woo Do Hwan was not the only Korean actor who announced his upcoming enlistment. Park Bo Gum, through his agency Blossom Entertainment confirmed that he will be reporting for mandatory service starting August 31.

Park Bo Gum will be fulfilling his role as a cultural promotion soldier of the Navy after his application was accepted by the unit, Koreaboo reported. However, Park Bo Gum will be able to leave fans with three projects before reporting to the military. His sci film Seo Bok will be released sometime this year.

He will also be able to complete filming Wonderland along with a star-studded cast, and tVn drama Record of Youth opposite Park So Dam.
