Infidelity and divorce rumors have been plaguing the marriage of Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith for years. There were also rumors that the couple has been into an "open relationship" but it remained as speculation until this week when a man who has been linked to the Gotham actress came forward with his story.
In an interview with the Breakfast Club's Angela Yee, August Alsina revealed that he had a romantic relationship with Jada Pinkett Smith for years and Will Smith knew about it. Alsina made it clear that it wasn't a secret affair as the Men In Black actor knew about and he even gave his permission.
The R&B singer claimed he sat down with Smith and had a conversation about the transformation of their marriage to a life partnership. Alsina said the Aladdin actor gave his blessings to him. He also confessed that he deeply loved Jada and he gave years of his life to the relationship.
Alsina dropped the bombshell after Yee asked him about his song "NunYa" that was released last year. It was speculated back then that it was about Pinkett Smith. In the song's music video, an animated phone displayed a text message exchange between former lovers named "Bitmoji" and "Koren," which is Jada's middle name.
It wasn't clear when their alleged affair ended but Alsina said it was the hardest thing that happened in his life. When asked why he stayed silent about the alleged relationship with Jada, August said he never wanted to create confusion because he loved the Smiths.
Meanwhile, Jada's rep denied Alsina's claims. The actress' spokesperson told PageSix that Alsina's claims were absolutely not true. Will Smith's camp has yet to respond to the allegation.
August Alsina was a close friend to the Smith family for years. He was introduced to the family in 2015 by Jada and Will's son, Jaden. The 27-year-old singer appeared to become close to Jada as he even attended the 2017 BET Awards with the actress.
There have been rumors for years about Jada's relationship with August. In 2017, it was speculated that the Angel Has Fallen actress would be leaving her husband for the young singer.
Last year, it was once again rumored that Jada and Will were headed for divorce because of the former's friendship with Alsina. NW claimed Smith was convinced that his wife fell in love with Alsina and he wasn't happy about it.
