Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are currently living in Los Angeles with their son Archie. The couple moved to the US after officially stepping down from their senior royal roles at the end of March.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex said in their withdrawal announcement back in January that they wished to be “financially independent” as they start their new life outside the Royal family. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle then promised to pay back all the taxpayer funds that were used to renovate their Windsor, Frogmore Cottage home, and pay commercial rent on the property. They also agreed not to be funded by the Sovereign Grant anymore.
Although Prince Harry and Meghan Markle still receive funds from Prince Charles and the Duchy of Cornwall, they need to find sources of income. Previous reports revealed that the couple will be creating their own TV firm. Rumor has it that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will be providing voiceovers and producing documentaries on “worthy causes,” and this is where they will be earning their money.
Earlier reports claimed that there is a possibility that Meghan Markle will return to Hollywood. The Duchess of Sussex was an actress before she met and married Prince Harry in 2018, so the entertainment industry is a place that may feel like home to her. The insider revealed that the former actress is “actively looking” for an agent or manager.
Unfortunately, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s plans came to a screeching halt due to the coronavirus outbreak. Now, a royal expert said that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex “need to make money” as they are not earning anything after their royal exit.
"They do need to make money. They've been in LA since March, they left the Royal Family at the end of March, and as yet, they haven't actually earned anything,” Katie Nicholl said.
TalkRADIO's Mike Graham previously asked Charles Rae if the UK is still paying for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s security. The royal expert claimed that they still are because “at the moment Prince Charles is giving them £2million a year” to help them pay for their security.
According to Celebrity Net Worth, Prince Harry’s net worth is $40 million while Meghan Markle’s net worth is $5 million. But a previous report claimed that the Duke of Sussex’s wealth may worth less in the US. And now that he’s living in Los Angeles, the prince is also obliged to pay his taxes.
