Meghan Markle filed a lawsuit against the publisher of The Mail on Sunday and MailOnline for publishing part of her private letter to her estranged father Thomas Markle in 2018. In the documents, the Duchess of Sussex’s legal team claimed that she was “unprotected by the Institution and prohibited from defending herself.” Her friends were reportedly worried about her welfare, especially because she was vulnerable at the time.

Now, a new report alleged that Queen Elizabeth is “devastated” by Meghan Markle’s court filings. A royal expert even branded her move a “power play.”

“I know from speaking to people at the Palace that the senior royals are going to be absolutely devastated by this," Daily Mirror royal editor Russell Myers said in the podcast Pod Save The Queen, adding that this is a "massive power play" by Meghan Markle and her lawyers.

Russell Myers pointed out that Meghan Markle is “particularly unhappy” at how she was treated by the Royal Family and the fact that she was restricted to respond to articles publicly.

It is worth noting that this is not the first time that Meghan Markle implied that the Royal Family did not support her. The Duchess of Sussex opened up about her struggles to Tom Bradby in the documentary titled Harry & Meghan: An African Journey last year.

The anchor asked Meghan Markle about the impact of public scrutiny on her. The Duchess of Sussex then replied by thanking him for asking how she was feeling because she said that “not many people” have asked if she was okay, seemingly hinting that the Royal Family didn't care about her situation.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle made some shocking revelations during their interview in Harry & Meghan: An African Journey, and it seemed that Queen Elizabeth was not too pleased with it. Her Majesty is known for trying to avoid any sort of controversies as much as possible, and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex talking about the British clan and the monarchy may have affected and horrified the Queen.

In fact, Meghan Markle’s interview in the Harry & Meghan: An African Journey documentary is being compared to Princess Diana’s explosive sit-down with Martin Bashir for Panorama in 1995.

The royal family usually ignore fake, hurtful, and exaggerated stories, but Prince Harry and Meghan Markle decided to do something about it and sued a couple of publications. Piers Morgan, a well-known critic of the former actress, then demanded that the royal couple should “stop playing the victim.”
