Mayans M.C. season 3 is officially happening on FX, but there are still a lot of questions when it comes to its official release date. The series usually premieres in the fall, but that may not be followed this time around. Perhaps, we could see the show returning on the small screen in 2021.
Due to the global health crisis, productions for most shows have been forced to shut down. And because of that, it seems like Mayans M.C. season 3 is not coming this year. The series starts filming in the spring -- leading to late summer or early fall release.
However, the show is months past from the established timeline, so there is no guarantee the latest installment is arriving at some point this year. In addition, there are a lot of things to consider before cast and crew can start filming.
For instance, the series is not easy to make since it comes with a large cast and films in different locations. In most of the scenes, some characters are very close to each other. These are some of the major challenges for Mayans M.C. season 3.
The health and safety of everyone on set remain to be the top priorities right now. They could start working again when the situation goes back to normal or gets a little bit better. And because of the potential delay, the 2021 release is very likely.
Even though there is a delay, more stories re coming in Mayans M.C. season 3. The upcoming installment will open new stories for EZ. Reportedly, the new season will feature new stories, particularly focusing on gang politics.
But before opening new stories, it will also tie some of the loose ends left in the season 2 finale. The massive cliffhanger will be addressed, in which the gang was standing over a body. The face wasn't shown, but it looks like a SAMCRO member.
Meanwhile, we won't be seeing series creator Kurt Sutter returning in the new season. He was, reportedly, axed due to the complaints about his behavior. This is the first season without Sutter on board, with Elgin James taking over the new installment.
As for who's returning in Mayans M.C. season 3, J. D. Pardo will reprise his role as Ezekiel "EZ" Reyes. Other returning cast members include Clayton Cardenas as Angel Reyes, Carla Baratta as Adelita, Sarah Bolger as Emily Thomas, Raoul Trujillo as Taza Romero, Michael Irby as Bishop Losa, and Danny Pino as Miguel Galindo.
