Meghan Markle is one of the special guest speakers lined up for the Girl Up Summit online. The Duchess of Sussex will be featured alongside Michelle Obama and one of her closest friends, Priyanka Chopra.

The online event is set to take place from July 13 to 15, where Meghan Markle is set to speak to over 65,000 young women from over 120 countries. The Girl Up Summit is a leadership initiative from the United Nations to "unite girls to change the world" and secure opportunities for disadvantaged young women in countries like Ethiopia, Guatemala, India and Malawi. per the Daily Mail.

According to Hello, Obama will also be delivering a message to the participants of Girl Up and Chopra will be featured in the Q & A. Meghan previously met the former First Lady in person when she visited London in December 2018. The Duchess of Sussex also had the chance to interview Obama when she guest-edited for British Vogue.

The Girl Up summit was originally set to take place in Washington, D.C. but due to the coronavirus pandemic, the organizers decided to shift the event to the online format. Companies like P&G, H&M, Intel and Google are some of the big supporters of this annual event.

This will be the first major speaking engagement for Meghan Markle following reports that she and Prince Harry signed up with the Harry Walker Agency. The outfit also represents the Obamas, the Clintons, Oprah Winfrey and other public figures for their speaking gigs. 

However, Daily Mail reported that Meghan Markle likely took on this speaking engagement on a voluntary basis and won't be paid by the United Nations for her service. Experts say that Meghan and Prince Harry could stand to earn at least $500,000 each for their speaking engagements for corporate entities. 

Meanwhile, Meghan and Prince Harry recently spoke about systemic racism and slavry in the history of the British Commonwealth. While talking to some members of the Commonwealth Trust, the Duke of Sussex said that the only way to move forward is to acknowledge this uncomfortable past and try to correct the mistakes of history. 

Meghan Markle also addressed the death of George Floyd and the Black Lives Matter movement in public for the second time. She said that she the outpouring from the people regarding the murder of Floyd has led to this reflection and reassessment. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex both agree that what used to be acceptable before is no longer fitting in today's social consciousness.
