Prince Harry and Meghan Markle shocked the world when they announced earlier this year that they will be stepping down from their senior royal roles. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex shared that they wish to focus on their family and charities while being “financially independent.”
The couple is currently living in Los Angeles with their son Archie. But before their withdrawal announcement, it has been heavily speculated that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were feuding with the Royal Family. However, royal fans are still hoping that they will make amends, and everything will be okay.
Unfortunately, many were not too happy with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s speech on the Commonwealth, where they acknowledged their past. Royal commentator Dan Wootton spoke to one royal fan, who was clearly frustrated with the couple, especially the Duke of Sussex, and wanted them to lose their titles.
The caller, Alison in Lichfield, pointed out that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle should do their best to patch things up with the Royal Family. "Prince Harry is just destroying everything that made him a success in the first place. It is a shame and I think he should be stripped of his title,” she said.
When Alison asked Dan Wootton if Prince Harry is still close with Queen Elizabeth, the royal expert shared that he thinks the Duke of Sussex would still pick up the phone and call his grandmother. He noted that the only thing that is not destroyed in this royal drama is Harry’s relationship with the Queen.
Meanwhile, even though the couple will still be known as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, they can “no longer formally represent” Queen Elizabeth in their new lives. Also, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will not only lose their HRH titles, but Prince William’s brother will lose his military titles as well, which deeply upset him, according to royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams.
He pointed out that Prince Harry showed sadness during his Sentebale speech. The Duke of Sussex may have accepted Queen Elizabeth’s ultimatum, but it was a hard pill for him to swallow.
Richard Fitzwilliams added that although it appears that Prince Harry is ready to move on from his senior royal obligations to being a non-working royal, he may miss his old life in the future. The Duke of Sussex is royal by birth, and being a prince had always been a part of him.
