As Prince William and Prince Harry now have their respective charities, they, reportedly, decided to split the money they get from Princess Diana's memorial fund. Allegedly, this decision is the final straw of the royal brothers' official split.

According to Mirror Online, Prince William and Prince Harry already signed the documents that would affirm that any future cash that would go to their mother's memorial fund would always be divided between them. Before the split, the money would usually go to their joint projects.

Mirror's royal editor Russell Myers told Lorraine Kelly on Good Morning Britain that this decision is just another "sad reflection" of how far the siblings have come apart. The paper that the two, reportedly, signed is said to be "one of the final documents" that they needed to make the split official.

Kelly also showed sadness upon hearing Myers' sentiments, saying it was a shame. The Scottish television personality believed that the Dukes of Cambridge and Sussex could have done so much better if they work together. The two princes aimed to build their own foundations with their respective partners, Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle.

Princess Diana's memorial fund was built in September 1997 after her tragic death. It was an "independent grant-giving foundation" that Prince William and Prince Harry used to fund their chosen causes.

Although it no longer actively raising funds, it still occasionally gets "legacies and donations." The Royal Foundation got legal control of the memorial fund in 2013. In its annual report, it received about $27,000 from the charity.

The Royal Foundation used to work under the names of both the Cambridges and Sussexes, People reported. However, everything changed when Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced their exit to build their own. At the time, it was Sussex Royal.

Today, Prince Harry no longer has a charitable entity in the UK since the Sussex Royal is now defunct. The Sussexes had to give up this foundation as part of their deal not to use the royal brand after they decided to step back from their royal duties in January. However, they are now planning to build a new organization called Archewell.

Prince Harry's asked his share from Princess Diana's memorial fund to go to his HIV/AIDS charity, Sentebale. The organization, which he set up with Prince Seeiso of Lesotho, Africa, was inspired by his mother's work to fight the stigma and the said disease.
