Zico has been doing well recently after starting his label. He has been collaborating with a lot of artists and churning out one hit song after another after he started embarking on his solo career.

However, the rapper, songwriter, and producer admitted that being CEO is not all about glamor and success. Still, he welcomes every part of his new job.

In a recent guesting for Jung Eunji's Gayo Plaza radio show,  Zico was asked whether he came to a point where he wanted to resign as CEO of his record label.Zico said that being CEO does come with its challenges but he's been mainly doing what he's been doing as an artist of an agency.

He said that he still plans the production, writes and composes the songs, plans his schedule, and does the visual directing. However, now it comes with the added responsibility of making his own decisions and taking responsibility for how it turns out.

It can be recalled that that Zico did not renew his contract with Seven Seasons in November 2018 and left the company while other members of Block B re-signed with the label.

In January 2019, Zico announced that he will establish his label called KOZ Entertainment. KOZ stands for King of the Zungle, which was also the name of one of Zico's world tours, Soompi reported.

Zico is not the only artist who ventured out to establish his record label. It can be recalled that last year, another young artist who became CEO of his agency was Kang Daniel.

After the disbandment of WANNA One, Kang Daniel did not sign with any label but opted to establish KONNECT Entertainment.

In one of his interviews, he said that heading his own company took some getting used to since he was in charge of making bigger decisions and signing contracts. He said that these developed his heightened sense of responsibility.

Many other artists made a mark for themselves as powerhouse labels in the industry. Jay Park's AOMG Record is one of the most active in signing talents both in the field of hip hop and R & B.

Rain also established his own company in 2015 called the Rain Company. While he is the only artist being handled by his label, he is always opening doors to the next big talent to mentor. His webpage even has a provision for auditions.

Epik High's TABLO is also the CEO of an independent sub-label of YG Entertainment called HIGHGRND. The label was developed by TABLO and former YG CEO Yang Hyun Suk to develop hip hop artists in Korea. YG's top producer Teddy Park and Kush also formed an independent sub-label under YG called The Black Label.

Legendary Kpop idol group SHINHWA is known for its loyalty and resilience and this was precisely the reason why they established their label in 2011 called The SHINHWA Company which handles all of the members' projects, Koreaboo reported.
