Kang Daniel will  be participating in his first Korean drama OST with SBS' Backstreet Rookie.

It was recently confirmed that the former WANNA ONE member will be following the footsteps of his former member Ong Seong Wu, and lending his voice to one of the tracks of the Backstreet Rookie OST.

It can be recalled that Ong Seong Wu starred in his first drama Moments at 18 last year and also contributed one of the OST tracks.

While there is still no news of Kang Daniel exploring acting projects, he has agreed to work on the soundtrack.  This will be another first for the artist who also appeared in his first solo travel reality show  this year, Soompi reported.

As his label KONNECT Entertainment remained mum on what type of music he will be producing, his DANITY fandom is already anticipating his new music. After coming back from his hiatus due to anxiety and depression last year, Kang Daniel has been pushing the envelope with exciting  new projects that showcase his different sides as an artist.

He shared his retrospective side with fans with his Hello Daniel travel show wherein he travelled to Portland, not as a celebrity, but as a normal 25 year old man. He showcased his realizations and reflactions through the show.

He also impressed with his comeback album CYAN which performed well in both physical album and digital song sales.

Kang Daniel's venture with the Backstreet Rookie OST is seen by most fans as a great fit for his personality.

The SBS drama is a romantic comedy that revolves around a struggling convenience store owner Choi Dae Hyun, who tries to keep his small business afloat after quitting his job at a big company.  The role is played by Ji Chang Wook.

The drama also stars Kim Yoo Jung as Jung Saet Byul, a former high school bully who gets hired by Dae Hyun. Their polar opposite personalities is expected to bring humor and fun to the series.

The series is adopted from a manhwa entitled Pyeonuijeom Saetbyeoli that was published by TopToon from 2016 to 2017.  

Even before the drama's release, production has already teased of the strong chemistry between Ji Chang Wook and Kim Yoo Jung. They said that the first encounter between their characters was something to look forward to.

Backstreet Rookie is expected to take over the timeslot vacated by Lee Min Ho's fantasy series The King: Eternal Monarch.
