Lee Min Ho's comeback drama struggled against the strong competition for its timeslot but by its end,  The King: Eternal Monarch found its footing and ended on a solid note. 

Based on a report by Soompi, The King: Eternal Monarch achieved a solid 5.8 and 9.1 percent ratings for its two-part finale aired last June 12.After an eight-week wait, reviewers also gave the ending a passing mark.

According to a review by Hello Kpop, the Lee Min Ho drama was able to deliver a satisfying ending after a whirlwind of a series and served up happy endings left and right, especially for fan-favorite characters. The site gave a shoutout to writers for finding a way to bring Lee Gon and Jung Tae Eul together, even though their fates seemed to be doomed during the drama's run.

Meanwhile, as the drama drew to a close, Lee Min Ho revealed his favorite scene from the series. The actor said that it was one of the earlier scenes where his character Lee Gon takes Kim Go Eun's character Jung Tae Eul to his parallel universe to introduce himself as the king of Corea.

For her part, Kim Go Eun said that her favorite scene was one of the more emotional ones in the series. She said her favorite part was Lee Gon and Jung Tae Eul's bloody reunion after her character was almost killed by the villain Lee Lim. She shared that the scene was filmed for three days in Busan so they were relieved that the audience liked it as well.

After The King; Eternal Monarch, the timeslot will be occupied by Ji Chang Wook and Kim Yoo Jung's romantic comedy Backstreet Rookie.

In the new drama, Ji Chang Wook will star as the haggard convenience store owner Dae Hyun who tries to keep his business afloat after quitting his job at a big company. The actor described his character as innocent and naive, but cute at the same time.

Kim Yoo Jung, on the other hand, will play the role of Jung Sat Byul, Dae Hyun's employee who used to be a bully in high school. She described her character as extremely loyal and lovable.

Both actors recently starred in successful romantic comedies. Ji Chang Wook top-billed Melting with You opposite Won Jin Ah, while Kim Yoo Jung starred in the hit drama Clean with Passion for Now.
