Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have urged the public to be environmentally friendly. However, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex recently received backlash after they were spotted doing the exact opposite of what they were preaching.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were seen getting into a black Cadillac SUV in Beverly Hills. Netizens quickly pointed out that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex may not be using an environmentally friendly vehicle.
"Remember that Eco speech where Harry told us 'every drop counts!'...??? I wonder how many miles per gallon does this Cadillac Escalade give...??" one Twitter user posted.
This is not the first time Prince Harry and Meghan Markle received backlash for doing the opposite of what they were urging the public to do. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex drew criticism last year when they took a private jet to go on vacation, despite the flight's carbon impact on the planet.
Prince Harry then explained that he flies commercial flights “99 percent” of his life, but there were circumstances that he needed to fly privately to ensure the safety of his family.
As for Prince William and Kate Middleton, they were praised for taking a commercial flight to Scotland last year with their three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis. However, the Cambridges’ flight may not be as ideal as everyone thought.
While this gesture made Prince William and Kate Middleton very relatable and down to earth, a report suggested that their budget Scotland flight was not eco-friendly at all. It appears that the Duke and Cambridge’s commercial flight to Scotland has resulted in 4.5 extra tons of carbon emissions.
While Prince William and Kate Middleton did not know that an empty flight was flown from Humberside to Norwich to ensure the Flybe brand would be on the aircraft they traveled on, the insider called the whole incident “utterly ridiculous.” A spokesman for Flybe denies having any involvement in the decision. Also, Eastern Air called all questions regarding Prince William and Kate Middleton's commercial flight to Scotland, “immaterial, as long as all their passengers had a nice flight.
The Royal family just couldn’t seem to win with their critics. When they fly on private jets, they are criticized for it. When they take commercial flights, they are called ridiculous. But the Royals are probably used to these comments and do what they think is best in specific situations
