Hightown season 2 is setting more stories in the future, based on what happened in the season 1 finale. The series has delivered intense stories, including drama and mystery. While the renewal is already certain, the official release date is still hanging up in the air. The series has been impacted by the global health crisis, so we could expect some changes. It would be difficult to start production at the moment, considering the situation.
Filming would not also start immediately because of other reasons. For instance, it takes some time to get the scripts together. Cast and crew could probably start working on Hightown season 2 either later this year or in early 2021.

But in the midst of all of these, Jackie found some victories. It looks like Alan is working and helping her to have more of an active work moving forward. She's also doing her best to be better and stay sober. But then, new problems could arise once the new installment arrives.
Hightown season 2 features a new different era now. We're going to see most of the characters dealing with new problems while also trying to solve the old ones. Jackie and Ray's storylines will still be followed, but the story could also shift to some new adversaries.
