There is little doubt that fans are excited after it was confirmed that Star Wars: The Clone Wars is getting its own spin-off series to be called The Bad Batch, which will focus on the elite Clonetroopers who were introduced in the first few episodes of the final season. However, the news also had some people concerned about the future of another animated show.

So, does this mean that Disney and Lucasfilm have decided not to pursue the Star Wars Rebels sequel? Luckily, a new report suggests that the follow-up to the series about the Ghost crew is still happening and is in development alongside the other animated show.

People have been hoping for another season of Star Wars Rebels although the series already concluded in 2018. After all, the final episode actually teased on the story not being over as Sabine Wren teamed up with Ahsoka Tano to search for Ezra Bridger, who was last seen jumping into hyperspace with Grand Admiral Thrawn. Needless to say, there have been reports that the sequel is already in development even though Disney and Lucasfilm have not yet confirmed it. What the studios did confirm earlier this week has been a completely different project that is still set in the same universe.

It was previously reported that Disney and Lucasfilm announced The Bad Batch. The new series will focus on Clone Force 99, the elite team of Clonetroopers who helped Captain Rex and Anakin Skywalker in the first few episodes of the final season. Details about the new show have not yet been confirmed. However, there is a huge possibility that Dee Bradley Baker will return to provide the voices of Echo, Hunter, Crosshair, Tech, and Wrecker.

But, does this mean that the Star Wars Rebels is no longer a possibility? An insider has tweeted to assure fans that the sequel is still happening. Although the details about the other show were also not revealed, there is a huge chance it will focus on the search for Ezra Bridger.

The Bad Batch is, currently, in active development and has not yet been given an official release date. Likewise, there are claims that the next season of Star Wars Rebels is also being developed but Disney and Lucasfilm have not yet confirmed it. The two animated shows may finally premiere on Disney+ by 2021.
