Star Wars: The Clone Wars might be over but that doesn't mean fans have seen the last of Clone Troopers. Lucasfilm and Disney have just confirmed that a new spin-off series titled The Bad Batch is currently in development and will air on Disney+. The new animated show will focus on Clone Force 99, the elite Clonetroopers that were introduced in the premiere episode of The Clone Wars Season 7. In addition to that, it could feature the return of other beloved Star Wars characters.

The announcement was made by Disney and Lucasfilm, who is currently developing The Bad Batch, the new animated series that will be set after the end of the Clone War. The show will focus on Clone Force 99 and possibly reveal how new recruit Echo is dealing with being a part of the elite team. The new animated project will be developed by several names that have already worked with Star Wars like Brad Rau, who will serve as supervising director, and Jennifer Corbett who will be the head writer. Both Rau and Corbett will also serve as executive producers alongside Dave Filoni, Athena Portillo, and Carrie Beck while Josh is confirmed to produce.

Disney+ SVP of Content Agnes Chu released a statement about the new show. "Giving new and existing fans the final chapter of Star Wars: The Clone Wars has been our honor at Disney+, and we are overjoyed by the global response to this landmark series," she said. "While the Clone Wars may have come to its conclusion, our partnership with the groundbreaking storytellers and artists at Lucasfilm Animation is only beginning. We are thrilled to bring Dave Filoni's vision to life through the next adventures of the Bad Batch."

For now, the cast of The Bad Batch has not yet been announced. However, there is little doubt that Dee Bradley Baker will be back in the upcoming Star Wars show. After all, Baker provides the voice of just about every Clone Trooper that has appeared in The Clone Wars. With that in mind, the actor is set to return and provide the voices of Echo, Hunter, Crosshair, Tech, and Wrecker and might even return as Captain Rex.

The Bad Batch has not yet been given an official release date. However, the series is already in active development and could begin production soon. The new Star Wars show is then expected to premiere on Disney+ by 2021.
