Anyone who has seen the first teaser for Wonder Woman 1984 is undoubtedly excited about Diana Prince's return later this year. One of the reasons why people were hyped up for the DC Extended Universe sequel has been the revelation of Diana's new gold suit with its powerful wings. Interestingly, this new costume is more than just a splashy new look for Gal Gadot's Amazonian princess. The suit is also expected to work like Batman's iconic Batsuit.

The first teaser for Wonder Woman 1984 revealed some amazing new details about the highly anticipated sequel, including a sweet reunion between Diana Prince and her beloved Steve Trevor, who was killed in the first movie. However, the most notable moment in the trailer was Diana in her new gold suit. The costume, which is actually the Golden Eagle suit from the Kingdom Come storyline from the comics, hints at the superhero possibly getting new powers in the film. In addition to that, Interestingly, it was also designed to be fully functional and somehow comfortable for Gal Gadot to wear.

The functionality of the Golden Eagle suit was confirmed by Wonder Woman 1984 costume designer Lindy Hemming. According to Hemming, she created "a fantastic undersuit" that was made of "tiny panels of urethane" which were then applied to a catsuit. All this work was completed by gold-painted, 3D-printed polyurethane items that were carefully crafted by Pierre Bohanna. Hemming, who previously worked on Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight, stated that it was similar to how the Batsuit was created.

"It's like the Batsuit, or anything: all small parts," Hemming said. "An armadillo-like articulation means that the person can move and twist and turn, and it will return to its previous position. Having said that, it was not pleasant to wear -- and no armor of any kind is pleasant to wear!"

Although it wasn't exactly an easy costume to wear for Gal Gadot, Lindy Hemming revealed that the suit's most obvious feature was something that director Patty Jenkins wanted to have a special function. "Patty wanted the wings to become 'a one-woman formation of shields, so no one can attack her,'" Hemming confirmed. With that in mind, fans can expect to see those wings being used often in Wonder Woman 1984.

Wonder Woman 1984 will star Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, Kristen Wiig, and Pedro Pascal. The film is currently scheduled for release on October 2.
