Perry Mason episode 5, titled "Chapter 5,"  is set to arrive on HBO this week. The series is, now, halfway through the season. So, viewers could see the story further expands as it progresses. There are still a lot of big reveals and unexpected twists and turns coming for the titular character.

In Perry Mason episode 5, the story could include seeing more of the titular character's actual family and the people he is close with. The synopsis revealed that Mason and Della will travel up north for a solemn errand. Strickland, on the other hand, will track down the sergeant originally assigned to the Dodson case.

Before going back to Los Angeles, Mason visited his ex-wife, Linda, and son, Teddy, hoping he could make amend for his recent shortcoming. Meanwhile, Della is disturbed by Emily Dodson's blind faith in Sister Alice and her new lawyer Frank Dillon. So, Della sets out to find Mrs. Dodson's more capable legal representation.

In the previous episode, the case takes a shocking turn, with Emily's lawyer, E.B. Jonathan, the center of almost everything. He advised her to plead guilty and do 20 years in prison, but they acknowledged that wouldn't be easy.

Both of them won't allow their consciences to not fight for justice. E.B. told Emily he will do whatever he can to protect her. But, in the process, it looks like the lawyer wasn't able to save himself. The episode ended with E.B. seemingly welcoming his death.

Perry Mason episode 5 picks up the events that happened in the previous episode -- the aftermath of E.B.'s fate. It's yet to be seen whether or not he survives. While there's still a concern here, Della could possibly arrive just in time to save him.

However, if something bad does happen to E.B., Emily's case could get even more complicated. All cards are stacked against her and there's little to no hope for her. Yet, someone could come and take her case. This person could be Della; she'll do everything that she can to keep things in motion for Emily's safety.

Also, this could be the time for Mason to fight for Emily; not just because he's immersed in it, but because doing this could fulfill his father figure's dying wish. While there could be consequences along the way, he could eventually find ways on how to help Emily.

Perry Mason stars Matthew Rhys as Perry Mason, Juliet Rylance as Della Street, Chris Chalk as Paul Drake, Shea Whigham as Pete Strickland, Tatiana Maslany as Sister Alice McKeegan, John Lithgow as Elias Birchard "E.B." Jonathan, and Gayle Rankin as Emily Dodson.

Perry Mason episode 5 airs on Sunday night, July 19, on HBO.
