Actors Ah Jae Hyun and Goo Hye Sun are, now, officially divorced.
According to a report by All Kpop, the former couple sent their legal representatives to their first divorce mediation before the Seoul Family Court in July 15.
In a joint statement, Ahn Jae Hyun and Goo Hye Sun announced that they have agreed to a divorce settlement on Wednesday. The former couple will reportedly walk their separate paths and cheer for each other's futures. The statement also conveyed the couple's apologies to the fans for making their personal problems public.
The former couple met on the set of the drama Blood in 2015 and got married in May of the following year. It was Ahn Jae Hyun who filed for divorce last September, which was countered by Goo Hye Sun on October 24.
Ahn Jae Hyun and Goo Hye Sun's marital troubles came as a shock to fans who firmly believed that the couple was very much in love with each other after appearing in the reality show called The Newlyweds Diary, which chronicled the early days of their marriage.
The couple, also, weathered through challenges such as Goo Hye Sun's health problems when she was diagnosed with severe allergic digestive dysfunction in 2017 wich forced her to bow out of her drama You're Too Much.
Ahn Jae Hyun has, also, been open about his wife when he appeared as a regular cast member of New Journey to the West.
However, late last year, Goo Hye Sun, suddenly, posted on social media allegations about her husband and his alleged irresponsible behavior. The actress called out Ahn Jae Hyun for abandoning her and failing to face her mother when he wanted to sever ties as husband and wife. She even implied that Ahn Jae Hyun was having an affair with other women including his co-star Oh Yeon Seo.
Oh Yeon Seo's agency quickly debunked the allegations and threatened legal charges against Goo Hye Sun.
The social media attacks took their toll against Ahn Jae Hyun and he quickly lost major endorsement deals as he dealt with the scandal. Entertainment outlet Dispatch turned the tables when they released the entire chat log between the couple, which showed how their relationship deteriorated over the years.
The couple's recent Instagram posts suggest that they've had a rough time with the negative back and forth. In February, Ahn Jae Hyun worried fans when he posted the message "Please Forget Me" on his Instagram. After receiving negative backlash for her tirade against her husband, Goo Hye Sun flew overseas to learn English. Her recent post suggested that she was ready to make a comeback.
