Zac Efron has been extending his stay in Byron Bay in Australia because of the coronavirus pandemic. An Australia-based weekly magazine took advantage of this and concocted a rumor that the High School Musical actor has been offered to star in the British reality TV series I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here!

According to New Idea, Efron could appear in the next season of the show. A source of the tabloid claimed the network that produces the show is offering Efron $1.5 million to star in the survival reality series.

I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! follows several celebrities living together in the jungle for several weeks. At the end of the season, one of them will be crowned as the King or Queen of the Jungle.

The insider claimed the show has been a hit since it started in Australia and it could, now, afford to cast bigger stars. Apparently, Efron, who happened to be in the country, is said to be on top of its list.

The tabloid added Efron is looking to buy property near where he's, currently, staying in Byron Bay. It is a fact that the Baywatch actor is, currently, in Down Under.

He was filming his Netflix show called Down to Earth with Zac Efron in the coastal town when COVID-19 pandemic hit. However, a rep for the actor denied that Zac received a $1 million offer to star in I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here!.

Gossip Cop also noted that this wasn't the first time tabloids were wrong on its reporting about The Greatest Showman star. Back in 2018, In Touch claimed Zac Efron was way into his Ted Bundy character while portraying the convicted serial killer on Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil, and Vile.

A source told the outlet that the actor got lost in his movie character so much so that he acted like a real jerk towards his co-stars and the crew of the movie. Gossip Cop debunked the rumor.

Earlier this year, OK! claimed the actor rekindled romance with his ex-girlfriend and High School Musical co-star Vanessa Hudgens after the latter split with Austin Butler. The tabloid claimed the two communicated again after Hudgens and Butler started having problems. Gossip Cop dismissed the story about Efron and Hudgens' reconciliation.

Efron has been in the headlines this week because of his new Netflix docuseries that focused on travel, nature, and sustainable and eco-friendly living practices. In the eight episodes of Down to Earth with Zac Efronthe actor was praised for his transformation from a High School Musical heartthrob to a beloved travel host.
