As Britain's lockdown measures are gradually easing, the royal family is beginning to make in-person engagements. However, they still continue to do their royal duties by making video calls, and Prince William's latest engagement seems to be different from his other online meetings.

The Irish Guards shared a screenshot of their meeting with Prince William over Zoom on Twitter. It revealed the unusual talk the members of the Battalion had with the Duke of Cambridge, and they seemed to have a lot of fun.

In the caption, the group revealed that the Irish Guards had a "rather unusual Zoom call" with Kate Middleton's husband. The call was joined by the Battalion's ten members, from Guardsman to Major. They all spoke to the future king, who is also the Colonel of the Regiment, about their recent operational tours and football, among others.

According to Hello! Magazine, the second in line to the throne is a renowned football fan. He also supports Aston Villa. So, it's no surprise that this topic had been part of the conversation.

The father-of-three even participated in the BBC documentary Football, Prince William and Our Mental Health, which featured his initiative to get more men talking about mental health through sport. Prince William took over Major General Sir Sebastian Roberts' post as the Colonel of the Irish Guards in 2011.

Meanwhile, in his first-ever webinar with members of the United for Wildlife and other animal experts, Prince William renewed his call to stop the illegal wildlife trading. He blasted this unlawful business, given that the links between diseases could be transferred to humans from animals. It was also revealed that the COVID-19 pandemic had affected the animal conservation effortsExpress noted.

Lord William Hague, chair of the United for Wildlife Taskforces, advised a "much greater global effort" is needed to end the illegal wildlife trade and "help prevent future pandemics." There are reports that many countries in Africa and India experience a surge of unlawful poaching instances as the wildlife protection programs are suffering due to the cancellation of tourism because of the coronavirus lockdown.

Prince William suggested the COVID-19 pandemic give the authorities the chance to make "urgent steps" to prevent the spread of zootonic diseases while fighting the illegal wildlife trade at the same time. He continued that the work they had done would help the authorities "to trace the finances of the transnational organized crime gangs," who were behind this illegal activity.
